The German automaker BMW introduced a 320i model into the United States in 1977. This model is categorised in the E21 generation of BMW automobiles. Because of strict emissions standards in the U.S., the 320i was modified so that it could be imported. Modifications included a front bumper, front and side indicators, a speedometer and a fuel gauge. Production of BMW 320i E21 models discontinued in 1983. The 2010 BMW 320i Cabrio coupe is a four-seater convertible, also called a drophead coupe.

Interior Details

A variety of interior colours and materials are available for individuals who prefer customised BMW 320i automobiles. The stroke rating is 90mm and the bore rating is 84mm. The recommended motor oil for BMW 320i vehicles is SAE10w40 SE.


The E21 generation BMW 320i models have a fuel capacity of 58 litres and require unleaded fuel with at least a 91 rating. 2010 BMW 320i models have a fuel capacity of 63 litres. In addition, 2010 BMW 320i models have a low fuel consumption rating, according to BMW.


The chassis --- frame, machinery and wheels --- of 1.8-litre and 2-liter BMW 320i models consist of 110 horsepower DIN in Europe which is equivalent to a 108 horsepower rating in the United States. The 320i also consists of a four-speed manual transmission with a front suspension comprised of an anti-roll bar, coil springs and MacPherson struts. The rear suspension is comprised of coil springs and semi-trailing arms.
