The German automaker BMW introduced a 320i model into the United States in 1977. This model is categorised in the E21 generation of BMW automobiles. Because of strict emissions standards in the U.S., the 320i was modified so that it could be imported. Modifications included a front bumper, front and side indicators, a speedometer and a fuel gauge. Production of BMW 320i E21 models discontinued in 1983.
