Perkins is a diesel engine manufacturer that started in 1932 in England. They create diesel engines for many types of uses, including industrial, agricultural, marine and automotive. However, their main focus is manufacturing engines for industrial power use such as generators for backup power and for use in remote locations.

Perkins 4000 Series Diesel Engines

The 4016TAG2 is a 16-cylinder diesel engine with four valves per cylinder. It is the most powerful of the 4000 series. It has a bore and stroke of 6.3 x 7.5 inches with a displacement of 61.123 litres. The compression ratio is 13.6:1. When set to run at 1,500 RPMs, this diesel engine can output 1,634 kVA's of power during continuous full load operations. It can create 2,263 kVA's of standby power, which is power available in variable loads for emergency situations. The engine's horsepower rating is 1,826 under continuous full load operations and 2,529 horsepower during emergency use.

Perkins 2000 Series Diesel Engines

The 2806A-E18TAG3 model is a 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with a bore and stroke of 5.7 x 7.2 inches and a displacement of 18.1 litres. The compression ratio is 14.5:1. The total lubrication capacity is 16.38 gallons and the total coolant capacity is 16.1 gallons. This diesel engine weighs in at 2046kg. with no fluids inside. When set to run at 1,800 RPM's this unit can output 562 kVA's of power and 649 horsepower during regular full load operations. It can output 750 kVA's of power and 874 horsepower during emergency standby operations.

Perkins 1000 Series Diesel Engines

The 1006TAG model engine is a 4-stroke, inline 6-cylinder engine. It has a 3.9 x 5 inch bore and stroke with a 5.99 litre displacement. The compression ratio is 17.0:1. The capacity for the lubrication system is 5 gallons, while the capacity for the coolant is 9.8 gallons. The engine weighs 1,521lbs. with no fluids inside. While running at 1,800 RPMs, this engine outputs 179.7 horsepower and 151 kVA's of variable load power. It outputs 197.1 horsepower and 165.5 kVA's of standby emergency power.
