The Samsung Soul SGH-U900 is a slider phone with a 5 megapixel camera and Bluetooth connectivity. You can store 1,000 contacts and up to seven numbers per contact. The phone has 20 polyphonic ringtones and includes other useful features, such as a calculator and currency converter. The phone has a small touch panel which makes most standard operations straightforward, but there are some hidden tricks that can help you get more from the U900.

Quick Silent

When you've forgotten to switch your phone into silent mode, there is a quick button press that can activate it. Slide the phone open and press and hold the "#" button. The U900 will automatically switch to your silent profile. This little trick can be used when you're in a tight spot and need to stop your phone from going off.

Switch to Default Profile

You can quickly switch to the default theme with the entry of a secret code. All you have to do is type "*#827#" into the idle screen. Even if you don't have a need to switch profiles so quickly, remembering the code can save you the time it takes to navigate through the menus.

Switch Applications

On the U900, you can keep several applications open at a time, enabling you to pause what you're doing on an application, access another one, and then return to you previous position on the original application. Do this by pressing the "Application Switch" key, located directly above the number "3." If you use the menu operations instead of this key, you will have to exit the application to bring another one up on screen. For example, if you need to check your calendar in order to respond to a text message, you would ordinarily have to exit "Messages" completely to bring up your calendar. The "Application Switch" function allows you to keep the original text message open while you check your calendar. Beware, keeping numerous applications open will drain your battery and slow down your phone's operations.

IMEI Number

There are codes which can be entered into the idle screen to bring up your IMEI number and the date your phone was made. Enter "*#06#" into idle mode to see your phone's IMEI (or serial) number. This is needed if you ever want to unlock your phone to another provider.

Quick Camera Mode

Press and hold the "Camera Key," which is located on the right edge of the U900 (above the memory card slot), to quickly start up the camera application. This is great for times when the perfect photo opportunity arises out of the blue and you need speed to catch it.
