Make cheerful greeting cards with a sunflower theme to send to friends and family or to give as gifts. Use a variety of materials to create these little works of art that will put a smile on someone's face. Children and adults can spend an hour or more making a number of these all-occasion cards.

Fake Sunflower Card

Purchase one or more fake (fabric) sunflowers at craft shops. This can be a large sunflower or several small ones. Cut off the flower, discarding the stem. Hot glue the sunflower to the front of a blank card, such as a 5 by 7 handmade card cut from white or yellow card stock (7 by 10 rectangle folded in half). This will fit an A-7 size envelope. Use dimensional gold and green paint to add details. Write a personal note inside the card with a marker or calligraphy pen.

Paper Cut-Out Card

Cut out pictures of sunflowers from home decorating magazines or seed catalogues. Arrange them on the front of a 5 by 7 blank card and secure them with white glue or sealant and varnish. Write a note inside the card or leave it blank if you are giving several handmade cards as a gift.

Yellow Button Sunflower Card

Arrange a variety of small yellow plastic buttons on the front of a blank card to create the shape of a sunflower with petals. Put a larger, contrasting button in the centre. Use a hot glue gun to secure the buttons.

Sewn Sunflower Card

Cut large sunflowers from fabric. Arrange them on the front of a 4 by 6 yellow card stock rectangle. Tack them down with a few drops of white glue. Sew wide zigzag stitches around the edges of the petals with a sewing machine. Glue the sunflower card onto the front of a 5 by 7 blank white card (10 by 7 piece of card stock folded in half). Embellish the petals by hot gluing small groups of yellow seed beads randomly.

Sunflower Seed Packet Card

Purchase a packet of giant sunflower seeds. Glue it onto the front of a blank yellow or white 5 by 7 card (10 by 7 card stock folded in half). On the front of the card under the packet write, "Plant Me."
