Wrestling is a popular sports in certain parts of the country and, correspondingly, a number of American youth have taken an interest in it. Parents who want to encourage their children's participation and progress in the sport may consider enrolling children in one of the many summer wrestling camps for kids that are available nationwide.

Cornell University Summer Sports School

The Cornell University Summer Sports School is a residential summer camp program that offers a wrestling instruction to ages 7 through 18. Wrestling camp programs typically run from 5-to-19 days and quality instruction is provided by Cornell's coaches, guest coaches from various other universities, and athletes of Olympic calibre. In the on-campus Friedman Wrestling Center, campers learn the wrestling techniques practised by some of the world's top wrestlers.

University of Illinois Summer Wrestling Camps

University of Illinois Summer Wrestling Camps are located on the U of I campus in Champaign and are open to children ages 8 through 18. The wrestling program offers one and two week programs that focus on personal instruction, weight training and wrestling fundamentals such as pinning combinations, takedowns, escape techniques, live wrestling and a number of recreational activities. The camp counsellor staff is composed of current U of I wrestlers, and meals and lodging are included in the tuition price.

Georgia Elite Wrestling Camp

Georgia Elite Wrestling Camp is located in Gainesville and offers three individual wrestling camp programs to boys from grades 6 through 12. The beginners camp is designed for inexperienced wrestlers and focuses mainly on the fundamentals of wrestling techniques. The heavy weight camp program caters to larger boys who have prior wrestling experience, and the advanced wrestling camp focuses on fine-tuning the skills and techniques of the more experienced teen wrestler. Daytime or residential programs are available as well as advanced and heavyweight father-son programs.
