University of Oxford

The "Times Higher Education Supplement" ranked engineering programs worldwide in 2009. Of those programs, three programs in the UK were listed among the world's best 11 programs. The No. 11 program on the "Times Supplement" list was the University of Oxford, one of the world's oldest and most well-respected universities. Oxford is home to prominent research facilities such as the Institute of Biomedical Engineering. Oxford offers students multiple fields of study in engineering: biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, thermofluids, process engineering, turbomachinery and even vision and control engineering. Degrees are offered at both the baccalaureate and graduate levels in a variety of engineering fields.

University College London

University College London (UCL) ranked as the sixth highest-rated school of engineering in the "Times Supplement" list for 2009. UCL, like Oxford, is recognised as one of the top-rated universities in the world for a variety of disciplines such as law and business. Its engineering school is home to 20 different state-of-the-art research facilities. The engineering division is subdivided into 10 different departments that reflect the research interests of students and faculty members. These include civil, environment and geomatic engineering; energy and resources engineering; biomechanical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, innovation and management science, computer science, electrical engineering and a crime science division.
