According to the Catholic Free Press, World Priest Day became official on Sept.17, 2000 and is celebrated annually around the same date (in 2009, it was celebrated on Sept.19). But you don't have to wait until World Priest Day to honour and give thanks for your clergy member; whether it is a birthday, religious holiday or just because, give your pastor a present that will make him smile. Gifts don't have to be expensive; laughing is free and inexpensive gifts that provide a laugh will be long memorable.

Custom Bible Cover

Whether your priest is buttoned-up serious or laid back, he'll get a laugh carrying around a Bible wrapped in Veggie Tales, princess crowns, dots or cartoon characters. Custom Bible covers are fit to size your clergy's book, protecting it from the church's dust, damage and denting. While traditional church themes such as crosses, stained glass and praying hands are available (along with plain fabric and leather), imagine the amusement as a pastor holds up a book covered with hearts and smile faces while preaching a particularly important sermon.

Bobblehead

Show your preacher he's not just a talking head by creating a custom bobblehead figure in his likeness. An artisan matches the priest's face from three photos you submit; you provide information on hair, skin and eye colour. You can even have the robe colour match, and if your priest wears glasses, the bobblehead will too. Add a special message to the figure with a voice recording, such as the children's choir giggling about a new hymn or a funny personal joke.

Stuffed Jesus

Your clergy will always have an audience to preach to upon receipt of a stuffed Jesus doll. A variety of dolls are available, from cloth representations to teddy bears decked out with long hair, beards and robes. The stuffed Jesus can keep your pastor company in her pulpit, be used to make troubled parishioners laugh during counselling or just bring a smile after a long day of service work.
