Surprise dad with a homemade Father's Day card made especially by his favourite toddler. Store-bought cards can be generic and expensive to buy. Skip a run to the store and make a card from craft materials found at home. In addition, your toddler will enjoy giving her dad something that she made especially for him.

Thumb Bunny Loves You

Show off little thumbs with finger paint and card stock. Fold a piece of 8.5-by-11-inch card stock in half for the card. Squirt a small amount of finger paint into a dish and press the toddler's thumb into the paint. Guide the thumb to the centre of the front fold of the card stock and press downward. This makes the bunny head. Remove the thumb quickly. The end result should be a thumbprint, in paint, in the centre of the card. Use the same method to create bunny ears. One thumbprint will be the left bunny ear and another thumbprint will be the right bunny ear. When creating the bunny ears, have the ear thumbprints touch the main thumbprint. Wait for the paint to dry and draw a bunny face and outline the ears with a thin, black marker. Write a thoughtful note to Dad inside the card.

I "Wuf" Dad

Tell Dad how much you "wuf" him with a dog card. Start with an 8.5-by-11-inch piece of card stock. Fold one corner of the card stock to the opposite side to make an even triangle. There will be a strip of card stock not included in the triangle. Cut this off. Turn the triangle so the peak is facing toward you and the longer edge is facing away from you. Fold the outer left corner inward, toward you. Fold the outer right corner inward, toward you. These are the dog's ears. Place two googly eyes in the inner centre of the "dog," between the two folded ears. Draw a nose and mouth. Open the card and write a sweet note on the inside.

Handprint Card

Give Dad a hand on Father's Day with a handprint card. Fold a 8.5-by-11-inch piece of card stock in half. Squirt finger paint onto a paper plate. Have the toddler place his hand into the paint. Guide his hand to the front of the card and press down. Pull the hand straight up to prevent smudging. Wait for the paint to dry completely before writing a thoughtful note on the inside.

Picture Art Card

Use your favourite picture of the toddler and her dad to create a card. Fold an 8.5-by-11-inch piece of card stock in half. Glue the photo onto the front of the card. On the inside of the card, have the toddler "draw" a picture of her and her daddy. In addition, write a thoughtful note to the dad.
