Teach children about their guardian angels by creating these crafts. (Hemera Technologies/ Images)

Teaching children the Angel of God prayer is about more than memorising the words and learning the general attributes of angels. Create personalised angel crafts with children to help them understand that they have their very own angels to protect and guide them. These guardian angel crafts are an ideal compliment to the Angel of God prayer.

Guardian Angel Pin

A guardian angel pin is worn on a child's shirt to remind him that his angel is always with him. A child's seat belt is another appropriate place to attach these pins. Cut a pair of wings and a triangle shaped body out of felt. Glue the wings on the back of the triangle body. Glue a bead head on top the body. Hot glue a metal lapel pin to the back of the wings.

Personalised Prayer Card

Print the Angel of God prayer for each child. Cut out a rectangle of card stock large enough to glue the prayer on one side. On the other side, have the child write her name. Have the child then draw a picture of her home, school and church. Write "My angel watches over me at home, at school and at church." Laminate the prayer card to improve durability.

Personalised Photo Angel

Take a photo of each child and have it printed before beginning the craft. Give the children each a sheet of construction paper and allow them to glue their photos at the bottom of the papers. Have the children draw an angel in the space above the photo. Glue a folded coffee filter onto the paper to make wings for the angel. Write the child's name and the words "Guardian Angel" across the top so that it reads "(Name's) Guardian Angel."

Angel of God CD

Make an audio recording of the children saying the Angel of God prayer. Burn the recording onto CDs, making one for each child. Have the children work together to design an artwork cover for the CD. Copy the artwork and put it in each child's CD case. Encourage the children to play their CDs in the morning to help learn the prayer and remind them that their angels are with them throughout the day.
