Whether you are a professional model or planning a family photo shoot for your upcoming Christmas card, it is important to prepare for your upcoming photo shoot. You may feel nervous the night before your big photo shoot. Take a few steps to look your best and feel confident in front of the camera.
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and to reduce water retention and bloating. Eat a healthy diet including plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains. Avoid salty foods, which cause water retention. Similarly, avoid greasy, fattening and spicy foods, as these cause bloating and stomach upset. Do not drink alcohol, and stay away from foods or beverages that may discolour teeth, like coffee or red wine.
Get plenty of sleep on the night before your photo shoot to avoid the dark circles, pale skin and tiredness caused by a lack of sleep. If you have trouble falling asleep the night before your shoot, take a warm bath or read a book to relax.
Nails, Skin and General Grooming
Pamper yourself the night before your photo shoot. If your nails look a little rough, get a manicure or file them. Natural nails or a French manicure looks the best in pictures. Avoid bright red nails or dark nail polish colours.
Make your skin glow by applying a deep moisturising cream or oil to your feet and hands. Cover your feet with socks and keep the moisturisers on overnight for deep moisturising. Keep lips moisturised by using a soft toothbrush and oil to exfoliate dead skin; apply a moisturising lip balm after exfoliating to keep lips moist.
If needed, tweeze eyebrows or remove unwanted facial hair.
Collect everything you will need to take with you to the photo shoot the night before, and have it ready to grab on your way out the door. Prepare everything in advance so that you will not feel stressed out on the day of your shoot. Know where you are going and how to get there, and give yourself plenty of time to get up and feel awake and ready for the day. Eat a modest meal before the photo shoot.
