A skull cake makes a wonderful treat for your next Halloween party. Fun or scary, either way your skull cake is sure to be a hit at your party. Halloween is a time for spooky fun and imagination, so take the opportunity to add this element to the snacks and food that you serve as well as in your costumes.

Skeleton Cake

Bake the cake and cut into the shape of a skeleton or buy a skeleton cake pan from your local Halloween store. Spread black frosting over the entire cake for the base. Use white frosting to add the detail of the bones and skull face. For a gruesome addition on Halloween, use fondant dyed to look like old flesh and place in various spots on the skeleton. Use a deep red icing to imitate dried blood.

For a more elaborate cake idea, make a three-dimensional spooky house with a mould or by layering a cake cut into the shape of the house. Use frosting to decorate the house. Make the door in the shape of a skull with fondant or frosting. You can also add skeleton people to the house with fondant.

Make a layered skull cake by making two circle cakes. Cut the cakes into skull shapes.
