Birthdays may be exciting, or they may be depressing, depending on the attitude of the person celebrating the significant day. It is difficult to encourage those who may be feeling blue about another birthday. Use motivational birthday messages to help those who may feel like age is frightening or a reason for bad feelings.

Funny Messages

Motivate someone to celebrate and embrace another year with a funny motivational message. Shakespeare quoted, "With mirth and laughter let old age come." Help those getting older with funny motivational birthday quotes, such as, "Statistics show that those who have the most birthdays live the longest!" Make sure the recipient of the message has an overall sense of humour.

Famous Messages

Famous people age with the rest of us. Use some motivational birthday quotes from famous people to lighten the mood. Oprah Winfrey quoted, "The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate!" Maurice Chevalier quipped, "Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternative." Motivate a person by showing them birthdays happen to everyone.

Religious Messages

Religious individuals will enjoy a motivational quote or poem about angels or the blessings of their god. Choose quotes which reflect the religion of the person celebrating. For a Christian, a quote may be, "Heaven wept when you were born, because they lost an angel. Happy birthday." Include a prayer or other religious memento in the birthday message.

Inspirational Messages

Birthday messages can be inspirational, such as Abraham Sutzkever's line, "If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older." Use such lines in inspirational motivation to share a birthday wish with a person getting a year older. Include wishes of success and joy in the coming year and ignore the age of the person who may be sensitive about becoming older.
