Your 29th birthday represents the last time you can celebrate the anniversary of your birth while still living in the carefree days of your 20s. If you're looking for an interesting way to celebrate your birthday with family and friends, think about doing something you always wanted to try, but just never got around to doing.

Hot Air Balloon Ride

Locate a hot air balloon company in your area and inquire about taking a ride to celebrate your birthday. Depending on the size of the basket, you may be able to go up with as many as 10 friends to catch a spectacular view of the world below. Considerations when booking include having a backup day in mind, because if the weather is inclement, the balloon won't be able to fly. Be sure to dress warmly for the trip, since balloon flights often occur early in the morning, and for every 1,000 feet of elevation, the temperature drops about -15.8 degrees C. Check with the balloon company about bringing snacks and beverages.

Dress-up Party

Just because you're now a full-fledged adult a year shy of the big 3-0 doesn't mean you can't have a dress-up party. Select a theme you find fun and intriguing, and require your guests to dress appropriately. For example, you can choose to have a "Outrageous Hat Party" where all the guests must wear outrageous hats. Your theme can be reflected through the invitations, party food, and signature cocktails. At the end of the evening, give away prizes for the best and most interesting costumes.

Pole Dancing

If you and your friends love to move your bodies to music, consider having a pole dancing party. This party can be hosted in the comfort of your own home or in a dance studio that teaches pole dancing. Hire a professional dance instructor to give you and your friends a lesson. Be sure to tell your friends what they'll be up to ahead of time so they can wear athletic clothing. Afterward, you can shower, change and go out to a club for some more traditional dancing.

Birth Year Party

Throw a party that celebrates the year you were born. Since it will be almost 30 years ago, the culture will have changed measurably. You can search for music, movies, and even popular dishes from that year to incorporate into the party, and encourage guests to dress in the style of the period. As party favours, give gifts that are representative of that time. For example, burn a CD that has the top 10 songs from that year.
