If you're looking for a quick costume for your teen, then check out the items available in your house. With a bit of creativity, you can turn old clothes into a great retro costume or you can use the right make-up to create a "rock star" look. Teens enjoy fun, hip costumes that allow them to show off their individual styles. By adding personal touches to their costumes, the outfits will have a distinctive edge.

Football Pro Or Home Run King

If your son plays on his high school football team, then he can dress in his football uniform. When he puts on his shoulder pads, helmet, jersey, trousers, and cleats, he will have a complete costume. If he plays baseball, then he can dress as a baseball pro for the night. He'll have all the supplies that he needs for his ready-made costume.

Zombie Time

With the application of the right make-up, you can turn your teen into a frightening zombie. To create the "sunken eye" effect seen in many zombie movies, you will want to circle the eyes with dark or black shadow. You can also use fake blood to embellish your zombie look. (See Reference 2.) By putting on her prom dress or cheerleading outfit, your daughter can be a zombie prom queen or head cheerleader. A guy can also turn into a zombie sports star when he wears his baseball, soccer, or football uniform in conjunction with zombie make-up.

Greek Goddess or God

Grab a handy white sheet and turn your teen into a Greek god. Your teen should wear a white T-shirt and trousers under the sheet. You can wrap the sheet around him, toga-style, and secure it with a gold belt or a gold rope. (See Reference 2.) Teens can wear a pair of sandals to complete the outfit.

If your teen wants to portray a specific god or goddess, then add effects to match the god's known powers or interests. For example, if your teen wants to dress as Medusa, then purchase small, plastic toy snakes and allow her to thread the snakes into her hair.

Punk Rocker

Your teen can display her musical side with a Punk Rocker costume. Get her to put on her darkest make-up, and be sure that she lines her eyes with black eyeliner. She can search her closet for Gothic or grunge clothes. If she doesn't have any handy, then take a quick trip to your local thrift store to find inexpensive clothes that can be used for the costume. Black is a main colour for Punk Rockers. As far as the hair is concerned, you can buy a fun wig or use a temporary hair colouring spray to get a Punk Rock look. (See Reference 3.)
