Summer Art Camps for Teens

Summer art camps for teenagers provide valuable art instruction as well as an enjoyable camp experience. Teens can stay at a lake or farm, or travel abroad to explore the Caribbean. Aspiring artists can learn techniques in drawing, painting, ceramics and fashion design in a fabulous, rich environment.

Eagle Arts Academy Summer Arts Camp

Eagle Arts Academy, situated in picturesque Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is a summer arts camp for teens up to 17 years of age. It offers day and residential programs. The Visual Art camp teaches drawing, painting, life drawing, pottery, printmaking, jewellery and ceramics classes. It also has camps geared to music, dance, acting and video making. The programs run through the month of July. Residential campers stay in dormitories which are divided by gender and age.

Arts Abroad Teen Summer Camp

Although based in Virginia, Arts Abroad sends teen campers from 15 to 19 years of age to Europe and the Caribbean to attend art camp. In 2011, art students travel to ltos de Chavón School of Design in the Dominican Republic. They will reside in a medieval village and receive instruction on graphic design, drawing, fashion design and interior design. A weekend at a luxurious beach resort is included in the trip, however, teens must be 16 years of age or older. A typical camp through Arts Abroad lasts for three to four weeks.

The Farm Art Camp Program

The Farm Art Camp is situation in northeast Pennsylvania and accommodate boys and girls from age 6 through to 16. The Farm focuses on visual arts instruction such as drawing, photography, painting, ceramics and printmaking. Teens also enjoy horseback riding, camping, hiking, boating, swimming and tennis. It has four two-week sessions from June 26, 2011 until August 11, 2011; however, teens may stay from two weeks to eight weeks by combining sessions.

Long Lake Camp

Long Lake Camp for the Arts was established in 1969, and is located in New York State, in Adirondack Park. Its fine arts camp includes drawing, painting, jewellery, fashion design, silver-smithing, ceramics, weaving, sculpture, Batik, photography and creative writing. It also offers instruction on animation and puppetry and evening studio programs for additional creative opportunities. Fine arts camp has 20 studios for campers from 9 to 16 years of age.
