Lightning McQueen is a favourite choice for bedroom decor ever since the Disney movie "Cars" released in 2006. Many toddlers find the talking race car, Lightning McQueen, voiced by actor Owen Wilson intriguing and request to have their bedroom decorated in the theme. Use your imagination and a few supplies from your local retail or home improvement store to create a dream bedroom for your toddler.

Walls

Paint all the walls in the bedroom grey, and paint a white solid stripe for the top and bottom border. Paint two yellow stripes in the middle of the walls all the way around, which will resemble the look of a highway. Take an overhead projector, and blow up a picture of Lightning McQueen on one of the walls. Paint Lightning McQueen to look like he is on the "highway." Instead of paint, use a checkered flag wall border in the bedroom. Put the wall border around the middle of the room or at the top. Place racing stickers, such as flags and cars, on the walls.

Bedding and Linens

"Cars" bedding is available at many retail stores and online. If you want to go with your own look, use a red comforter with black and white checkered throw pillows, sheets and pillowcases. You can even use iron-on "Cars" transfers to put on the linens. Design your own valance using black and white checkered material. For long curtains, purchase a pair of black and white tabbed curtains to hang. Drape a red sheer curtain scarf across the top of the curtains. Hot glue small metal Lightning McQueen cars to metal hooks to use as curtain tiebacks. For more decoration, glue cars to the end of each one of the curtain rods.

Bed

Lightning McQueen beds are available online and at many retail stores; however, the beds are pricey. Make your own "Cars" bed using a wood headboard and foot board. Paint the headboard and foot board with red paint, and put a large "Cars" sticker on them. For example, put a large Lightning McQueen sticker on the headboard and a large Mater sticker, the tow truck, on the foot board. Attach small metal race cars to the top railing of the headboard using wood glue.

Accessories

Find several "Cars" accessories to put in your toddler's Lightning McQueen bedroom to accessorise. Items such as a "Cars" TV, posters, wall clocks, lamps, rugs, cork board and framed art are available at many retail stores. Place long checkered flag stickers down the blades of a white ceiling fan, and attach Lightning McQueen stickers to the end of each blade for added decoration.
