Singapore is positioned perfectly as a "hub" for business with its excellent International Airport boasting connections to over 200 destinations worldwide. It is also a popular destination for expats with its reputation as a very safe place to live and its position in South East Asia. With the continuing expansion of its MRT (Mass Rapid Transport), the options available to expats for living in Singapore have increased dramatically.

Centrally located most popular Expat areas

Bukit Timah is known for being a popular area for expats. It is located in the central district and is just 10 kilometres from Singapore's CBD. Orchard Road and Tanglin are also very popular areas with Orchard Road a tourist attraction in its own right. Sentosa Cove is a residential area on Sentosa Island where homes feature private yacht berths and is becoming a desirable area for expats with a lot of money.

Less expensive areas to live

Serangoon Gardens is a residential estate that would suit the budget conscious expat. It has an MRT station, Serangoon that operates services on the northeast and circle lines. It also has an Australian International School in the area and will actually feel like you're living in a neighbourhood because it has actual houses as opposed to being predominantly apartments.

New Areas becoming popular due to the MRT

Woodlands is a suburban town in the north of Singapore. It has become a more viable area to live in with the expansion of the MRT line. Woodlands also has its own coastal park known as Woodlands Waterfront. The Park has a 400m jetty and a large playground that has a wide range of activities for people of all ages. Because it is outside of the CBD it is a popular area for families and offers the Singapore American School.

Pasir Ris is a residential area primarily made up of Apartment blocks. It has an MRT line and is situated near the beaches on the north east side of Singapore. It also boasts an excellent shopping centre that connects to its MRT line.
