PrestaShop is a free to use e-commerce software. This software allows users to build an e-commerce store complete with products, pricing and billing. Adding products via an import is much easier than entering products individually one by one into PrestaShop. Product attributes such as product ID or size can also be entered through an import, but this import must be from a different CSV file than the product CSV file.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open your CSV file using a simple editor on your computer such as Notepad, Wordpad or Text Edit. Note the symbol used by these editors to denote where the columns would separate input if it were still in spreadsheet style. This symbol may appears as a comma (",") or semicolon (";") or in some cases a lower case letter.

  2. 2

Open your Web browser and go to your PrestaShop dashboard. Select "Back Office," scroll to Tools and select Import. This will navigate you to a new screen.

  3. 3

Hit the "Browse" button and choose the Attribute CSV file. Hit the "OK" button to allow the file to upload.

  4. 4

Type the symbol mirroring the columns in the simple editor of the Column Separator field. Hit the "Next Step" button to continue. Your CVS file will be pulled into columns on the next page.

  5. 5

Label each set of attributes using the drop-down menus above each column. Click the "Import" button to finish and save the attributes. Return to the dashboard and review projects to ensure that everything uploaded properly.
