Making a camouflage, or camo, stencil with tiger markings, such as the gear cam available in the Black Ops video game, is not a difficult process. The stencil can then be used to mark whatever object you choose with an authentic tiger camo. With minimal drawing skills, you can create a tiger camo stencil using nothing more than a sheet of stencil paper, marker and a utility knife.
- Skill level:
- Moderately Easy
Things you need
- Stencil paper
- Utility knife
Place a sheet of stencil paper on a flat drawing surface. Use a photograph of a tiger as a guideline to help you replicate the shape of the stripes. Notice that tiger stripes are not all even lines and are often varied in width and length. There are no specifics you need to follow to replicate these stripes.
Draw several stripes on your stencil paper. Using the guidelines of a photograph, create a variety of stripes spaced apart at varying intervals. Visualise the ratio of black stripes to orange fur you will want in your final camo design. Some tigers have more black stripes than others. The stripes of your tiger camo will be black space and everything else will be orange. The object is to find a balance between the stripes and the nonstriped areas. Let your eye be your guide. Avoid crowding the stencil with stripes.
Cut the stripes out of your stencil paper using a utility knife. This will allow you to draw or paint the tiger stripes onto any surface you want. The nonstriped area of your stencil will not be duplicated when you apply your stencil.
