How to Change Your Hometown on Facebook

Updated March 23, 2017

Your Facebook profile is a way to let your friends, old and new, communicate with you and find out more about you. Among the details of your life that may be shared on your profile are your current city and hometown. Just like any other aspect of your profile, changing your hometown is done in just seconds and the change is reflected immediately. After you enter your hometown, use the "Privacy Settings" menu to determine who can see it.

Click on the "Profile" link in the top-right corner of any Facebook screen to access your personal profile.

Click the grey "Edit Profile" link in the top-right corner of your profile.

Click on the "X" immediately to the right of your current hometown to erase it from your profile.

Begin to type the new hometown information. As you type, Facebook generates possible matches. Once you see the correct hometown, click it once to select it. If Facebook does not present the correct hometown, create a new entry by typing the full hometown and then clicking anywhere outside of the field.

Scroll down and click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the screen.
