How to auto tune your voice in audacity

Audacity is a free, open-source audio editing program. A special plugin for Audacity allows you to use of Virtual Studio Technology, or VST, instruments and effects, including the popular Auto-Tune effect made by Antares Audio Technologies. Install the VST plugin and a demo of the Auto-Tune plugin to try out the popular effect on your own voice for free.

    Download and install Audacity version 1.3 or higher from audacity.sourceforge.net if you are currently using an earlier version.

    Download the Audacity VST Enabler from web.audacityteam.org. Run the downloaded program, and when you reach the "Select Destination Location" step, select the "Plug-Ins" folder in the "Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)" folder in the "Program Files" folder. Complete the installation and click "Finish."

    Navigate to antarestech.com and choose "Product Demo Versions" from the "Download" menu. Enter an e-mail address and select a country from the "Where do you live?" menu. Select "Auto-Tune Evo" from the "Product to Download" menu, your version of Windows from the "Computer Platform" menu and "VST" from the "Format" menu. Click "Download Product."

    Open and run the installer program when it's finished downloading. When you reach the "VST Plug-Ins Folder" step of the installation program, click "Change" and select the same "Plug-Ins" folder you chose in Step 2. After the installation is complete, another program installs the product's authorisation software. You are prompted to restart your computer after this installation; click "Yes."

    Run Audacity. When a dialogue window appears, asking about the Auto-Tune plug-in demo period, click "Try."

    Open a recording of your voice or record a new one with the "Record" button.

    Click the "Effect" menu and choose "Antares Audio: Auto-Tune Evo VST." The Auto-Tune interface appears.

    Configure the Auto-Tune effect using its interface. For a quick demo of the effect, simply adjust the "Transpose" knob up or down, and click "OK" to apply the effect.

    Click the "Play" button to hear your auto-tuned voice when the processing is complete.
