Avast! contains a Mail Shield feature that scans incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses and other malware programs. If you have an e-mail account set up with encrypted connections in Mozilla Thunderbird, Avast! can't read the encrypted e-mail traffic and won't work properly. You can set up Thunderbird for Avast! by disabling the encryption in Thunderbird and configuring your e-mail settings in Avast! Then, Avast! encrypts your e-mail traffic before it leaves your computer, so you continue to receive the benefits of a secure e-mail connection.
