Things you need

- Cotton fabric
- Thick grosgrain ribbon
- Thin satin ribbon
- Thick satin ribbon
- Tissue paper
- Toilet paper roll
- Double-sided tape
- Hot glue gun
- Washable markers
- Fabric marker
- Utility knife
Draw the shape of a ballerina leotard on a piece of 24-by-36-by-3-inch foam board with a pencil. You can do this by eye or lay an actual leotard down on the foam board and trace an outline.
Cut out this traced shape with a utility knife.
Lay a yard of cotton fabric, in a pattern or colour of your choosing, upside down onto a flat, hard surface, and place the foam leotard board atop it.
Trace around the shape of the foam leotard with a fabric marker, leaving approximately two inches between the board and your trace marks.
Cut out the traced shape on the fabric with a pair of scissors. Leave the foam leotard on top of the fabric.
Apply hot glue to a two-inch section of the fabric and immediately fold the fabric forward, onto the foam leotard. Smooth the fabric down onto the foam with the butt of the glue gun to avoid lumps in the glue. Repeat this entire process in two-inch sections all around the foam leotard until it is completely covered in fabric.
Wrap thin satin ribbon, in the colour of your choosing, around the body of the foam leotard to create areas that pictures, notes, and drawings can be placed under. Wrap the ribbon tight enough so that items placed under the ribbon will not fall off.
Secure the ends of the ribbon on the back of the foam leotard with hot glue.
Cut two 24-inch pieces of thick grossgrain ribbon and attach each ribbon to the back of either shoulder of the leotard with hot glue.
Turn the foam leotard over to its front, and tie the two pieces of ribbon together into a bow. This will be the hanger for the foam leotard.
Leotard Message Board
Wrap a sheet of pink tissue paper around a cardboard toilet paper tube covered in strips of double-sided tape. Tuck any bits of excess tissue into one end of the toilet paper tube.
Tuck the tissue into the other end of the tube so that the end is closed off.
Fold a 12-by-5-inch sheet of white tulle into thirds. The tulle should now be in a square shape.
Cut a slit directly into the centre of the tulle.
Open the slit with your fingers and slide the cardboard tube into the hole. This will make a ballet skirt.
Cut a 12 inch piece of pink stain ribbon and tie it in a bow above the tulle skirt.
Fill the tube with candy and hand out as party favours.
Tutu Party Favor
Draw the outline of a ballerina in a tutu onto a small piece of chipboard. If you aren't comfortable drawing, you can trace the ballerina figure from a printed image or a stencil.
Cut out this image with a utility knife.
Draw in the face, hair, and clothing of the ballerina with colourful washable markers.
Hot glue 12 inches of thick white grosgrain ribbon to the back of the chipboard ballerina. The ribbon should hang down below the ballerina.
Attach barrettes to the ribbon.
