How to increase the speed on alienware m17x

The AlienWare M17X is a top-of-the-line laptop, equipped with an Intel Core 2 Quad QX9300 CPU, a 1TB hard drive and up to 8 gigabytes of DDR3 memory. According to Notebook Review, it is one of the fastest gaming machines on the market. However, even the fastest computers can slow down, especially if the configuration changes, or if little maintenance is performed.

Start your PC and immediately press the "F2" key to enter the BIOS start-up menu. Select the "Advanced" tab and select the "Performance" options.

Move the "+" or "-" keys to change the mode to enabled, if it is not already in this mode.

Press the "F10" key to save changes and press the "Esc" key to get out of the BIOS.

Look for spyware that may be infecting your computer. Disconnect your computer from the Internet and go to "Start,""Programs" and look for actual adware pograms. Click the "Uninstall" button to remove these. Restart your machine and open your antivirus program. Scan the machine for any potential malware or viruses. Restart the computer when the scan finishes.

Press the windows icon key and "R" simultaneously to get the run box to appear. Type "msconfig" in the box. Click "Startup" in the new window that appears and look at all the programs that start with Windows. These start-up programs take a lot of the computer resources. Uncheck the programs that you don't want to start with the machine.

Download and install a registry cleaner like Ccleaner, Registry Cleaner-Free or Wise cleaner. Run the program to clean up temporary Internet files, corrupt registry files and any other junk files that are interfering with the computer.

Defrag your hard drive if you have installed, uninstalled and added a large number of files. These processes cause fragmentation on the hard drive and slowdowns. Go to "Start," "Programs" and select "Accessories." Choose "System Tools" and "Disk Defragmenter." Because the AlienWare laptop hard drive is large, the defragment process can take several hours, so you should start this process when you do not need to use the computer.
