QDF files store financial data and account information for use with Quicken. If you want to view your saved Quicken information on a different computer, transfer the QDF file to it. QDF files contain the most vital parts of your Quicken portfolio, so it's important to keep the files orderly and properly named. If you want to rename a QDF file for easier identification or sharing across a network, there are two methods for achieving this goal.

Right-click on the QDF file you want to rename.
Type a new file name.
Press the "Enter" key to rename the file.
Rename the Original File
Open the QDF file in Quicken.
Click "Save As."
Type a new name for the file.
Click "Save." The old QDF file still exists on your hard drive, and you'll also have a duplicate file with the newly selected name.
