Grosgrain ribbon is a type of ribbon with texture. It is characterised by a zigzag line looping back and forth on both sides of the ribbon. Generally, both sides of the ribbon have the same texture, and the ribbon can be shiny or matt. Grosgrain can be any colour and can have a contrast colour stripe down both edges. It can be decorated with glitter, prints or plaid. A company name or slogan can also be printed on a grosgrain ribbon. If you can't find ribbon with a design you like, work with a custom ribbon designer to create your own. Wholesale orders normally have minimum's attached, so make sure you can order the minimum amount of ribbon.

Draw a box on a piece of paper the desired width of the ribbon and 10 inches long.
Use a marker to colour the entire ribbon sketch the colour that the ribbon will be dyed. If it is white, leave it blank.
Use the coloured pencils to draw your design on the ribbon, noting the colour change when the pencil is applied over the marker. Draw one repeat of the design, making sure that the beginning of the repeat matches up with the end. If the repeat is a word, leave space at the end of the last letter for the word to begin again.
Draw any contrast edging on the sketch in coloured pencil.
Bring your sketch to a custom ribbon developer. Bring your quality swatch of grosgrain to the developer for reference.
Negotiate the price based on amount of colours, difficulty of the design and the width.
