An Ethernet switch alleviates congestion on a wired network and allows multiple devices to share a network connection. You can use Airport Express with an Ethernet switch if you want to connect multiple computers with a wired connection. You install Airport Express much as if you were hooking it up to a modem; the set-up will take only a minute or two.

  1. 1

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into one of the networking ports on the Ethernet switch.

  2. 2

Insert the other end of the cable into the "Ethernet" port on the rear of the Airport Express Base Station.

  3. 3

Flip out the power prongs on the Base Station's body and plug it into a nearby power strip. It will immediately begin sending out a wireless network from the Ethernet switch's connection.
