The Xbox 360 introduced the Kinect, an external digital video camera that directly connects to the console. The Kinect is primarily designed to capture video and images for special Xbox 360 video game titles, but the device can also be used for direct video chats with other Xbox 360 Kinect users. Both users will need an Xbox LIVE account to connect to the Internet, and both users will need their Kinect cameras to be connected. The Xbox 360 Kinect does not function as a normal webcam on a PC or Mac computer.

Connect the Kinect to your Xbox 360 and turn on the console.
Scroll through the Xbox 360 Dashboard tabs and locate "My Community."
Select "Video Kinect" to enter the Kinect webcam menu.
Highlight and select "More Friends" to browse a list of friends currently available to chat. Select a friend to invite them to a chat. Wait a couple of minutes for the friend to respond to your invitation, since they are possibly in the middle of a game or a movie. The webcam chat begins once the friend accepts your invitation.
