How to make a checkmark symbol in Facebook

Updated April 13, 2018

Using alt code symbols -- small pictures made by pressing the "Alt" key on your keyboard and a number code -- on Facebook is one way to make your posts stand out. Making a check mark to post in your status update or even add to your information is a simple code you can type from almost any keyboard. The check mark made with an alt code is actually a square root symbol, making it useful for posts mathematical in nature as well.

Click inside the text box where you want to place the check mark.

Hold down the "Alt" key on your keyboard.

Type in "251" using the number pad on your keyboard.

Tip

Number lock must be turned on to make alt codes.
