How Can I Change My Desktop Background on My Acer Aspire One?

The Acer Aspire One is a brand of low cost, small notebook computer, commonly called a netbook. As of 2009, the Acer Aspire One comes with Windows 7. Prior to 2009, the Aspire One came with Windows XP. All of the Acer Aspire One computers have a 1,024 pixel by 600 pixel screen resolution, and any background images you choose should be set at those dimensions.

    Windows 7

    Click on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel."

    Enter "Desktop Background" into the search box.

    Click on the link that says "Change Desktop Background."

    Select the picture you want to use as your desktop background. If you have another picture that is not showing up, select "Browse." Navigate to the picture you want.

    Double click on the picture. This will select it as the desktop background. You'll be presented with options to resize or crop the image to fit the screen display if it is not 1024 pixels by 600 pixels.

    Windows XP

    Right-click on a blank spot of the background, and select "Properties." A dialogue window will come up with tabs across the top.

    Select the "Desktop " tab. On the panel on the left, you can select the desktop background from those prepared; you can also click the "Browse" button to navigate to the picture of your choice. The "Position" drop down list will stretch the artwork to fit your screen, centre it, or crop it.

    Click "OK" to save your changes.

Tips and warnings

  • For every version of Windows from Windows 95 onwards, you can right click on any image and select "Set As Desktop Background."
