When you are throwing a princess party for someone in your life, consider creating a cake that will coordinate with the party. A tiara cake is simple to make when you use a sheet cake and a few cupcakes. Making the cake yourself will save you a lot of money compared to ordering the cake from a bakery. Use candies and sparkling sugar to decorate your tiara-shaped cake. You could use a shaped tiara pan, but it's simple to make the cake without one.

  1. 1

Cut the cake into a crescent shape using a serrated knife so that it looks like a two-dimensional tiara. Cut away the sides of the bottom of the cake so that it is sloped and takes on the shape of a frown. Slope the top of the cake so that it runs parallel to the bottom, but create five points on the top slope of the cake.

  2. 2

Remove the liners from your five cupcakes. Place one above each point that you created on the crown shape.

  3. 3

Use a frosting spatula to frost the cake and cupcakes with pink frosting. Frost the sides of the cupcakes as well. Use the frosting to make it look as though the cupcakes are connected to the sheet cake.

  4. 4

Fill a pastry bag with purple frosting and pipe a message onto the tiara cake.

  5. 5

Sprinkle the cake with sparkling sugar that you can find at some grocery stores, speciality baking stores or online. Consider using purple sugar so that it contrasts with the pink frosting.

  6. 6

Add candies to the cake to create more embellishments. Place the candies around the perimeter of the cake so that they look like jewels.
