How to Apply False Nail Tips

Updated April 17, 2017

Nails have a tendency to break, which can be unsightly. Fortunately, help is at hand in the form of a variety of false nail products. Nail tips applied to the end of your natural nail will extend them and give you the shape and length of nail that you want. False nail tips are strong, as they are usually made from acrylic. Once applied, they should last for at least a few days, making them convenient for special occasions.

Buy a set of nail tips that will fit the end of your fingers and are the length and shape that you require.

Remove any nail varnish that you are wearing, and wash your hands and nails thoroughly. Use a nail brush to make sure that all of the nail is spotless. Your hands and nails will need to be completely dry before you attempt to apply the nail tips.

Apply a line of nail glue to the edge of your natural nail, and hold the false nail in position at the end of your nail. Hold the false nail at a 45 degree angle to your natural nail, and gently slide it until it sits on the end of the natural nail.

Roll the false nail tip onto your nail plate and hold it in place for 5 seconds while the glue sets. Press gently to remove any air and to make sure that the edge is sealed.

Repeat the process on all of your nails.
