The Yamaha TTR-250 is a 250cc dirt bike that is commonly used in motocross and freestyle events. The TTR-250 allows for quick and easy suspension adjustments based on what you need the bike to do. The settings can be changed to accommodate racing, jumping and casual riding. Adjusting the suspension is a routine procedure that can be performed by the rider.
Adjust the rear dampening by rotating the screw that is at the top of the rear shock. There are a total of 18 clicks for rear dampening and you can adjust anywhere between 1 and 18 clicks. Turn the adjuster clockwise for increased stiffness. Start by turning the adjuster all the way counterclockwise, and then turn it clockwise your desired number of clicks.
Adjust the rear rebound by locating the dial at the end of the shock where it hooks to the swing arm linkage. There are a total of 36 clicks for the rebound adjustment. Adjust the clicks the same way you adjusted the dampening.
Adjust the front dampening by adjusting the compression adjuster screw at the bottom of the fork. There is a rubber cap covering it. Pry off the rubber cap. There are 22 clicks on this adjustment.
Adjust the front rebound by rotating the screw that is on top of the screw for the front dampening adjustment. Rotate the screw counterclockwise, completely counting how many clicks you hear. Then rotate the screw clockwise by the number of clicks you choose for your desired stiffness.
Adjust your rear sag by rotating the collar at the top of the rear spring. You can set this between 3 and 4 inches.
Setting the suspension on your Yamaha TTR-250 is a trial-and-error process. Make small adjustments, take the bike on a test run, and continue to make adjustments until it seems perfect.
