How to Make a Small Wooden Box With Drawers

Updated July 20, 2017

A small wooden box can provide a variety of uses such as storing beads, jewellery or other small items that can be easily lost. The drawers help keep your belongings organised and easily accessible. You can customise your small box by staining or painting it.

Create a design for your box. Determine the size of the box and how many drawers you want it to have.

Cut the top, bottom, back and side pieces of the box to equal length. Cut two smaller, equal pieces about 1/4 inch smaller than the sides of the box to build the sides of the drawer, and one piece 1/4 inch smaller than the back to build the back of the drawer.

Assemble the box by nailing the sides, top, back and bottom together. Assemble the drawer by nailing the smaller sides, back and bottom together. Assemble the front by nailing the front piece of wood to the drawer. Nail the drawer handle to the front of the drawer.

Fill all nail holes with wood putty. Stain the box as desired.
