How to Make Clothes Drawers Smell Nice

Updated February 21, 2017

The main culprit of foul-smelling odours inside the clothes drawers in your home is, most likely, bacteria. Once the bacteria are introduced inside your clothes drawers, they will probably continue to spread and multiply, which will make the odours worse, if you do not deal with the issue. The good news is that you can get rid of the foul odours and make your clothes drawers smell pleasant with a few simple strategies.

Add a pint of water to a container, and mix in 1 tbsp of vinegar.

Wet a clean cloth with the vinegar solution, and use it to clean out the clothes drawers. Remove all items in the drawer and thoroughly wipe down every surface.

Use a large towel to dry out your clothes drawers after washing with the vinegar solution.

Sprinkle baking soda inside the clothes drawers and cover the entire bottom of the drawer. Allow it to settle for several days with the drawers closed.

Vacuum up the baking soda after several days. Any remaining odour should come up with it.

Open a box of baking soda and place it inside the drawer. Put your clothes and other items into the drawer as well. The baking soda will keep the odour away and make the drawers smell nice.

Tip

Replace the box of baking soda every week or two to keep your clothes drawers smelling nice.
