Magicians are part of a magical theme for children's parties and other get-togethers. One of the most memorable things about a magician is his magic hat, from which he pulls out a rabbit, finds a missing card or shakes out confetti stars. The hat is as much a part of the magic show as the magician himself. Decorate cupcakes to look like that magical hat. Kids will marvel over magician hat cupcakes, especially if magician props and tricks pop out of the hat.

Things you need
- Prepared cake mix
- Paper or silicone cupcake liners
- Edible ice cream cone cups
- Purchased or baked cookies
- Chocolate frosting
- Decorator frosting in tubes
- Rolling Pin
- White chocolatechocolate bar sections
- Edible star-shaped cake sprinkles
Bake and cool cupcakes. Remove the cupcake paper liners from two cupcakes. Use chocolate cupcakes if you wish to use minimal frosting on the project.
Spread chocolate frosting on the top and bottom of one cupcake. Set the cupcake, narrow side down, in the centre of a cookie that is a little larger than the cupcake bottom. Place the second cupcake upside-down on top of the first one.
Frost the entire stack of the cookie and two cupcakes, or leave the cupcake hat unfrosted. Use tubes of decorative frosting to place a line of colourful frosting around the bottom edge of the hat, just above the cookie "brim" to look like the ribbon around a top hat.
Make embellishments for top hat, if desired. Use one section of a white chocolatechocolate bar to represent magic cards. Draw draw numbers and hearts, diamonds, spades or clubs onto the candy section with tubed red or black decorative frosting.
Make a bunny or a star from a gumdrop candy. Spread sugar onto a work surface. Use a rolling pin to roll a gumdrop out flat. Shape the flat candy by hand to form a round bunny face shape with two ears at the top, or a star shape.
Put a few drops of frosting onto the back of one or more embellishments to attach them onto the brim, sides and top of the cupcake hat.
Fill ice cream cone cups 3/4 full with prepared cake mix. Bake the cupcakes upright according to the package directions. Cool the cupcakes.
Turn the cone cupcakes upside-down to decorate. Place several drops of frosting onto the centre of a cookie that is a little larger than the wide end of the cone. Push the upside-down cone gently into the frosting. Use tubed frosting to decorate the cupcakes to look like magician top hats. For example, pipe several rows of frosting around the wide edge at the bottom of the cone to look like a ribbon just above the brim of the hat. Write a magician name or draw bunnies or stars with coloured frosting.
Attach embellishments to the top hats with drops of frosting, if desired. Use small edible cake directions in star or rabbit shapes or make chocolate bar section cards and gumdrop bunnies and stars as explained in Section 1, Step 4.
