Ford produced the 1998 Escort in many trims that included a four-door sedan, a two-door coupe, and a five-door wagon. When the heater motor on your Ford Escort stops working and when it begins making noise, it is a sign that it needs replacement.

Park your Ford Escort on level ground.

Open the bonnet and disconnect the battery.

Open the passenger door.

Remove the screws from the heater fan housing with a screwdriver, counterclockwise to loosen, and remove the heater fan housing away from underneath the glove compartment. The screws also hold the heater motor in place.

Pry a screwdriver at the clips on the heater cover and pull off the clips to loosen the heater cover.

Slide off the heater cover away from your Escort.

Clasp and disconnect the resistor cable and clasp and remove the heater motor away from your Escort.
