PC DJ is a software application that emulates the experience of traditional DJ'ing without traditional turntables or a mixer. One of the most useful aspects of this program is its "Autoplay" feature, which contains the ability to beatmatch and automatically crossfade between songs based on the settings you make.
- Skill level:
Open PC DJ by double-clicking on the icon that located on the computer desktop. You can also go to "Start," "All Programs" and select "PC DJ" from the list of applications installed on the machine.
Right-click the mouse onto the folder or "Record bin" that you want to be used by the Autoplay feature, then select "Set Autoplay Folder" from the list of options. This will tell PC DJ to play these songs when you turn on the Autoplay feature.
Press the "Autoplay" button on the toolbar to activate the automatic playing of the selected folder or record bin, then click on "Options," then "General." This is where you go to specify how Autoplay will behave and where to determine the kinds of crossfades the program will carry out between the songs.
Select "Basic" if you want the crossfade to begin at the very end of the song, then set the "Fadetime" to the desired amount. The "Fadetime" will specify how long it takes for the mix between the songs to be completed.
Select "Beatmatching" if you want the songs to have their tempo synced before the crossfade begins. You can then set the amount of "Fadetime" from this setting as well.
Select "Automatic" if you want to ignore the "Fadetime" setting. This will cause the songs to either crossfade in twenty seconds or only three, depending on how closely the two have been beatmatched.
