Blizzard introduces test realms in "World of Warcraft" each time they want to test a patch before releasing it to the live realms. The test realm is populated by characters copied from live test realms and occasionally premade characters that come equipped with high-end gear and items. Premade characters are not always available to copy to the test realm, especially if the patch is minor. As long as you have an active "World of Warcraft" account, you can begin copying a premade character immediately if the option is available.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Visit and click "Log In" at the top. Enter your account login information and the authenticator code if you have an authenticator.

  2. 2

Click "World of Warcraft" and "Manage Game."

  3. 3

Click "Additional Services" and "Public Test Realm." Click the "Copy a Character" link.

  4. 4

Select "Copy Premade Character." Note the "Average wait time," as that indicates about how long it will take to copy the premade character. If premade characters are not allowed on the current test realm, the "Copy" option will be greyed out.

  5. 5

Choose a race and class from the available list of premade characters. Select "Copy Character."

  6. 6

Click the "Select a Realm" box and choose either a PvP realm or PvE realm. PvP stands for player versus player and means that you can attack other players at any time and other players can attack you. PvE stands for player versus environment, and you cannot attack other players and other players cannot attack you unless you flag yourself for PvP.

  7. 7

Click "Continue." Click "Yes, Copy Me."
