How to Make a Little Pin Up Military Style Hat
Pin-up hats are typically sassy and cute. (military shooting image by Alexey Klementiev from

Pin-up style, military girls are models who dress provocatively and often scantily in military inspired attire in men's magazines. A pin-up style hat can be crafted to fit in with Navy or Army uniforms. The hat will typically be perched flirtatiously on the top or side of the woman's head. The pin-up style hat is reminiscent of the classic, traditional uniforms, and not frequently the style worn by the military today.

  1. 1

Poke a small hole on either side of the top edges of the box, approximately a quarter inch from the edge.

  2. 2

Choose a main fabric to line the hat with, which will depend on which branch of the military you are representing. For the navy, for example, choose a blue and white striped fabric. For the army, choose a dark green fabric.

  3. 3

Measure the width and circumference of the perimeter of the box as well as the bottom of the box. Measure and cut the fabric to match these measurements.

  4. 4

Glue the fabric to the bottom of the box. Fold any flaps of excess fabric down. Cover the edges and any folded down excess fabric with the side piece and glue in place.

  5. 5

Add decorative elements to the hats. For a navy hat for example, cut a piece of red ribbon to wrap around the bottom edge of the hat (would be the original top edge of the box). Glue in place around the edge of the hat. Add a gold charm or emblem with a nautical image, such as that of the a anchor to the front of the hat. For an army hat, wrap a black or brown ribbon around the edge of the hat. Glue a gold star to the front of the hat.

  6. 6

Poke hair clips through the holes in the cardboard of the hat and gently through the fabric to help hold the hat in place on your head discreetly.
