"Roller-coaster Tycoon 2" is the second game in the theme park management series made by the famous game developer Chris Sawyer. In the game, players are given free reign to design and build their own theme parks, and ensure the profitable running of them. Besides designing and placing rollercoasters and other attractions, players can also shape the landscape in order to make unique parks. Creating hills in "RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" not only improves a park's aesthetics, but can also make for thrilling roller-coaster rides.

Double click the "RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" icon to start the game. Click either the "Start a new game" option or the "Continue playing saved game" option to enter the build mode.
Click and hold down the right mouse button. This allows you to "drag" around the screen in order to move around the park faster. The "arrow" keys on the keyboard can also be used to scroll around the park.
Locate a flat area in the park. This will be where you create a hill. The amount of space that you need depends on how big the hill is you want to create.
Click the button marked "Adjust land height and slope." The button is at the top-right-hand side of the game screen. A new menu marked "Land" will appear.
Click the "plus" icon on the land menu to increase the size of the land area. A small grid will show you exactly how big the hill you are going to create will be.
Click the "Change base land style" icon and hold down the mouse button. While holding down the mouse button, select the type of land you want the top of your hill to consist of. Release the mouse button over the type of land you prefer.
Click the "Change vertical edges of land" icon and hold down the mouse button. While holding down the mouse button, select the type of land you want the edges of your land to consist of. Release the mouse button over the type of slope you prefer to select it.
Move the mouse cursor over the flat area of land on the game map. A white grid with a "shovel and up arrow" icon over it will indicate the size of the hill you are about to create.
Hold down the left mouse button to start creating the hill. "Up" and "down" icons will appear over the grid and cash will be deducted from your total. While holding down the left mouse button, move your mouse up (away from you) or down (towards you) to elevate or lower the land. The higher you build your hill, the more cash it will cost.
Click the "minus" icon on the land menu to decrease the size of the land area. Your hill at this stage will just be a square block with straight edges. To add a "slope" to the hill, you will use the single-block land area to raise or lower the edges of the hill. This will create a more natural looking hill, and will allow you to later create pathways leading up or down your hill.
