Determine what type of GPS unit you have. If you have a GPS unit that was manufactured by YF International then you need to follow each step below. If you have a GPS manufactured by a different company than YF International, skip to Step four. However, unlocking your GPS is only possible if you own a unit that operates Windows CE.

  2. 2

Update the existing firmware. Go to the GPSUnlock website. Click the "download" tab and download the YF Firmware update file.

  3. 3

Extract the two files you download from this site to the root of your SD card for your GPS. Go to "My Computer" and locate your GPS Device. Copy the downloaded files and paste them in the root folder of your device. Power off your GPS and then turn it back on. An upgrade screen will appear. Finish the upgrade and then remove the files you installed on the SD card. You can remove the files by selecting them from the root folder and deleting them.

  4. 4

Replace the old skin with a new one by visiting the GPSUnlock website. Go to the "downloads" tab and download the file called YFAP30_pez.rar

Also, if you lost your Bluetooth connection in previous steps, installing this file will resolve the issue.
