Veency is a VNC server for jailbroken iPhones that allows you to log in to and interact with your phone remotely. While the VNC protocol is too slow to allow you to watch streaming video seamlessly, it does accept text input, making it easy to compose longer notes or messages on your iPhone while using your desktop or while the phone is charging. Veency works with most VNC viewers but not with the remote desktop client that comes with Mac OS X.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Download and install Veency using the Cydia directory of applications for jailbroken iPhones (see Resources). Reboot your phone to start the Veency service.

  2. 2

Tap "Settings" and then "Wifi" on the iPhone. Tap the arrow to view the connection details. Write down the iPhone's IP address.

  3. 3

Launch the VNC viewer on the computer. Enter the iPhone's IP address and click "Connect" or "OK," depending on the VNC viewer's choice of wording.

  4. 4

Tap "Accept" on the iPhone when the connect request pop-up appears. The iPhone's screen will then load the VNC viewer.
