How to Clean a Poang Chair

Updated February 21, 2017

The Poang chair is a flexible, high-backed wood frame chair with a comfortable padded cushioning. These chairs are sold and Ikea and designed by Noboru Nakamura. The chair is simple and requires little work to keep clean, but as with any other piece of furniture you will need to clean the Poang chair occasionally to remove dust and build-up. The wooden frame can be cleaned with a basic cleaning product, and the chair cushion can either be spot-cleaned or washed in the washing machine.

Mix a half tsp of dish soap and two cups of water in a bowl.

Dip a cleaning rag into the mixture, wring the cloth out and wipe it over the entire chair. This includes the frame as well as the cushion.

Spray a mist of furniture polish onto a cleaning rag, and wipe down the wooden frame for a more thorough cleaning.

Unzip the chair cushion cover, and place it in the washing machine for a more thorough cleaning. Use a cold water wash cycle with your mild washing powder.

Remove the cover from the washer, and lay it flat to air dry.
