Most people spend at least several hours a night sleeping on their mattresses. This means your mattress does require regular cleaning. However, if you have a Tempur-Pedic mattress, then you cannot use standard cleaning procedures. The material that Tempur-Pedic mattresses are made out of cannot get wet either with water or cleaner. You should have a protective cover on your mattress at all times to protect against moisture. If your mattress is in a damp environment, you could eventually have a mould problem that needs to be addressed.

Instructions

  1. 1

Remove the outside cover of your Tempur-Pedic mattress if you have one. Wash it in cold water in your washing machine using mild washing powder. Do not use bleach. This could damage the cover.

  2. 2

Take the Tempur-Pedic outdoors in the morning or early afternoon. You cannot get the surface wet to clean the mould.

  3. 3

Use the hose attachment of your shop-vac to vacuum the area with mould. Be sure to get up as much of the mould as you can.

  4. 4

Allow the Tempur-Pedic mattress to sit in the sun. Keep it out for as many hours as possible. The sun will help to kill the mould spores since the Tempur-Pedic mattress can't get wet.

Tips and warnings

  • Wear a protective face mask when vacuuming the mould from your Tempur-Pedic mattress.
