How to Make a Windows Screen Fit My Laptop Display

Updated July 20, 2017

A screen's resolution is a measure of how many pixels can fit on the screen. Any type of computer display, be it a laptop or a desktop, has a limit to how many pixels it can display on the screen. If you adjust the resolution of the operating system to match the resolution of the computer's screen, you will be able to view the computer in the manner the manufacturer intended.

Click "Start," then click "Control Panel."

Click "Adjust screen resolution."

Select the resolution you want for the computer. The resolution of the computer's display is shown with a "(recommended)" label next to it.

Click "OK" to apply the changes.
