Things you need
- VST plug-in host
Open your VST plug-in host, and add EZ Drummer to an empty MIDI track in the default project. In most Digital Audio Workstations, you do this by going into your VST instrument folder, and then double-clicking or dragging the name "EZ Drummer" onto the empty MIDI track. In Cubase, go to "Add Instrument," and then select "EZ Drummer."
Add an empty audio track to the VST host program, and then set the audio input to come from the EZ Drummer MIDI track. Although this process will vary depending on the host software that you are using, go to the input/output routing of each individual track, and select the channel you are recording from in the appropriate box.
Arm the track for recording. Most VST host programs have a "Record Arm" button located either on the track itself or at the top of the user interface. You can tell the "Record Arm" button by its round and red appearance.
Press "Record" to activate recording within the VST host software, and then start your performance on EZ Drummer. Use the "QWERTY" keyboard to input the musical information, or simply play one of the included MIDI files within EZ Drummer. "QWERTY" is just another name for your computer's keyboard, and will allow you to trigger the samples from the VST.
Press "Stop" when you are satisfied with the outcome of the recording, and save your work. Go to "File," select "Save As," choose the name of the file that you are saving, and then press "enter."
