How to Add Speakers to a Panasonic TV With One Optical Digital Audio Out

Updated February 21, 2017

Many Panasonic television systems have an optical digital audio jack. This connection allows you to add additional surround-sound speakers to the TV, improving the audio quality of the set while increasing the overall volume you are able to produce. Because the optical digital audio cable is a single connection, the entire hookup process only takes a few minutes to complete.

Plug the single optical digital audio cable into the "Digital Audio Out" port, located on the rear of the Panasonic television.

Insert the other end of the cable into the "Digital Audio In" port on the Panasonic television receiver. Connect the speakers to the receiver.

Power on both the Panasonic television and the connected surround sound receiver.

Select "Digital Audio" and the audio from the Panasonic television is produced with the connected surround sound receiver.

Things You'll Need

  • Surround sound receiver
  • Optical digital audio cable
