Gravy is often a side dish offered with traditional home-cooked meals. Not everyone has the time or the energy to cook homemade gravy from the pan drippings left by meat. Making gravy with bullion cubes is a time-saving technique that allows you to create the feel of a homemade meal without half of the effort of creating it. The end results taste just as good and your family might not even know the difference.

  • 1 to 2 tbsps oil or butter
  • 1 to 2 tbsps all purpose flour
  • 1 to 2 cubes of bullion
  • or
  • 1 to 2 tbsps of bullion granules
  • 1 to 2 cups of water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Instructions

    Place the oil or the butter in a frying pan and turn the stove on to medium heat.

    Stir in the flour and whisk it with the oil until the two are mixed into a smooth consistency. Add more flour, oil or butter as needed, a little bit at a time.

    Place the bullion cubes or granules into a cup of warm water and allow them to dissolve.

    Start to slowly add the water and bullion mixture into the flour and oil mixture. Whisk the mixture to ensure that the gravy is a smooth consistency and stop adding the water mix once you get the texture that you want.

    Sprinkle salt and pepper into the gravy and let the gravy cook for three to five minutes. Continue whisking the gravy as it cooks so that it does not boil over or burn.
