How to Use a Cell Charger to Charge a Lithium

Updated April 17, 2017

Many modern mobile phones are powered by lithium batteries. These batteries are more advanced than older, nickel-based batteries and contain more power. When the battery is inserted in your phone's battery compartment, you can power up the battery by connecting the included phone charger to the phone itself. You don't even need to know much about electronics to do so.

Locate the adaptor port on your particular phone. On most phones it is located on the bottom or side of the unit. Consult your user guide if you have problems locating the port.

Plug the pronged end of the cell charger into a standard outlet.

Plug the adaptor end of the cell charger into the port on your phone. Make sure it is secure in the port. If the phone is turned on, a battery icon will inform you when charging is complete. There is also a battery light on the adaptor that will inform you when charging is complete.
